March Updates December 12

Book Soon! The March is Happening!

The national organizers are getting closer to confirming a location and route for the march. Various reports about the progress of the permitting process are being circulated, but the important message is that the march will happen, and that details should be announced soon.

There is a shortage of buses in the New England area, resulting in rising prices for bus seats. If you are planning on going, we recommend you make your travel plans ASAP. We also encourage you to connect with other riders at events and on Facebook to coordinate ride share and other transportation options. The regional organizers will do what we can to facilitate additional travel options.

Be seen! Keep Our Rights Safe! Wear Your Orange.

Marchers from Maine will be wearing Blaze Orange  to identify ourselves when we march in Washington. It can be any piece of clothing— for example a hat, a scarf, gloves, or a bandana.

Join us for a meeting with Senator Collins’ State Office Representative

On Tuesday, December 20 at 2pm, representative from the Women’s March on Washington will meet in-person with Senator Collins’ state office rep in Portland. We will voice our concerns and why we are marching on January 21st. PLEASE RSVP to the facebook event or via email if you want to join us. We are hoping for about 20 people to join us for the meeting.

Donate to support another rider!

If you’d like to make a donation to help others to attend the march in DC, please go to http://mainemarch.com/donations. Donations through our fiscal sponsor, the Maine People’s Alliance, will be used to support marchers with limited means for travel and related expenses. If you would like to be considered for one of the sponsored rides, please contact Maine People’s Alliance. Funds will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Deescalation Training with Prevention. Action. Change

During the first two weeks of January, we are coordinating deescalation trainings with the local company Prevention. Action. Change. around Maine for our marchers. Dates, places and times will be posted shortly. If you have already been through a similar training, please reach out to your regional leaders and let them know.
